Hi! I’m Dr Kirstin Lauritzen DC
What I Do:
I’m a licensed Chiropractor in the Portland, Oregon area.
I built a Gym-Call practice where I bring Chiropractic to athletes at CrossFit gyms.
It allows me to give more time to my patients and it gives me the ability to help athletes in their environment, so we can test and retest with the very same movements that hurt or are difficult.
It also allows me to teach about preventative care because there are many aches and pains that can be avoided with just a little care now and then.
I don’t just treat athletes, my main office is in Wilsonville, Oregon.
If you are looking for a Chiropractor that focuses on getting to the cause of your pain, spends more time with you in your appointments and your care is individualized to you (no cookie-cutter treatment here!) – check out my website below or give me a call at 503-974-4749.
I treat patients around the country with nutrition programs.
I have several programs: one for the athlete, a health recovery program based on functional medicine principles to help you heal from various conditions and diseases, and 6 30-Day challenges to help you:
- boost your body’s natural detox abilities
- improve your health by reducing inflammation
- one challenge specifically works on weight loss
- boost your performance (best for the recreational athlete!)
- one challenge focuses on digestive health
- health through the holidays challenge!
With each program, I work with my patients individually, so that you get what you need so that you can build healthy habits to carry you for a lifetime. I want you to love how you feel, recover your health by treating the cause, not covering up the symptoms, and I help the professional and recreational athlete support their training by tuning in your nutrition.
THE GYM-CALL BLOG
I also started and run this blog! It all began with Discover Functional Nutrition back in February of 2017, and now has moved and grown into the Gym-Call blog. I share recipes, and tons of content on research based sports nutrition, health related conditions and tips and tricks. Would you like to know more about a topic? Contact me here and tell me what you’re interested in!
I have treated many sports related injuries to the shoulder, spine, hips, knees and ankles.
I have also treated autoimmune diseases, obesity or difficulty losing weight, inflammatory-related conditions, brain fog, fatigue, body aches, migraines and headaches, to name a few. I’ve helped develop programs for patients that are pre-diabetic and that have diabetes. Patients with cardiovascular disease or patients that have wanted to avoid it have been on my program as well.
Sports nutrition is a passion of mine and I’ve helped athletes reduce their time spent recovering, overall aches and pains, and helped them tune in their nutrition for strength training, leaning out and also fat loss.
“Your Health Is Your Life”
Just even minor changes to your lifestyle can make large differences in the bigger picture of your health.
I began my journey at University of Colorado at Boulder where I earned my first two Bachelors of Arts degrees in Psychology and Neuroscience and Spanish.
I later moved on to earn a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Biology from University of Western States.
I also earned my Doctor of Chiropractic degree from University of Western States.
I have trained further in functional medicine and hold a Certificate in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine.
I will earn my Masters in Human Nutrition and Functional Medicine in the beginning of the 2018 year.
For fun I picked up my CrossFit Level 1 Certification in order to coach and learn more about training athletes. It’s served me well, since I now work extensively with CrossFit athletes.
I hold Certificates in Applied Kinesiology, Activator Technique, Rocktape Basic Training and Functional Movement Training. These have shown me even more ways to help my patients, especially when the adjustments and soft tissue work just aren’t enough.
Why I Do What I Do
I’m an athlete. I have been all of my life. I’ve played almost every sport both competitively and recreationally.
I loved to compete in gymnastics. Up until I was 12 years old, gymnastics was the main sport. I loved to fly through the air and learn new skills.
It was a sad day when my gymnastics days ended. I had the starts of back pain, I had twisted my ankles more times than I could count with my fingers on both hands, my wrists were sore, and my knees hurt. I was 12…
Although my days playing competitive sports didn’t end, my experience has stuck with me.
Later in my teenage years and early twenties I had migraines, all sorts of digestive issues, blood sugar regulation issues and troubles with my skin. My health wasn’t great.
I later learned that antibiotics that I took for a while in high school to help my skin were most likely the largest contributor to the cause of most of my complaints.
Over the years, with everything I’ve learned, I healed myself. I used Chiropractic, Nutrition, Exercise and other lifestyle changes to change what I was experience on a day to day basis. Now, I do this for my patients.
You can make the changes to improve your health. Your health is your life. If I can be of service in any way to assist you in your journey towards better health, don’t hesitate to reach out and contact me. I’d love to hear from you and talk to you.
